Comics Like One Piece, Space Dandy and Inazuma Eleven

Space Asylum is an all-ages, anime-style space opera comic. If you love any of the series below, here is what it has in common with them.

For Fans of One Piece

A captain sailing from world to world to gather his crew.

Captain Tom travels the universe to find his scattered friends and rebuild his crew, one stop at a time.
Every stop is its own world: the desert planet of Bahrain, the neon city of Planet U.K., and the lawless Outer Rim.
The heart of the story is friendship. The question it keeps asking is how far you would go for your friends.
Goofy banter sits right next to serious battles.

Over-the-top football powers, in space.

Supercharged footballs are a big recurring part of the fights, used as powers and weapons.
It is not a sports tournament story. The plot follows Captain Tom and his crew, and football is one of the ways they fight.

A comedic space adventure about a crew.

A small crew bounces between planets, gangs and government forces.
The tone leans comedic, with plenty of banter between friends.
Captain Tom is still haunted by the disaster that destroyed his ship, so the jokes sit on top of a real loss.

A bantering crew of misfits.

Philosophy, combat suits and secretive organizations.

The story asks real questions about memory, identity and what friends mean to us.
Characters fight in deployable light-suits, combat gear with a mecha feel.
The Universals government and The Radiance crew both have hidden motives.
Captain Tom carries the weight of a past disaster through the whole story.
Space Asylum is lighter overall and written for all ages, so the heavy themes never become graphic.
